Wonder of Woolies.

Jude Beckett has been handspinning for quite a while.

She dyes the British fleece, which she acquires filthy dirty from local farmers, making a statement about the very unevenness of the dye, she blends colours and different fleece types to create glorious batts for sale to Felters or Spinners. She started with purely natural dyes but has more recently had lots of fun with Acid Dyes which she uses on Wool, Silk and Trilobal – a sheeny shiny manmade fibre. Because she spins so much (it’s the process she loves) there is always yarn to buy, most of it is experimental and in small skeins, but she can also spin to commission. Jude makes hats, pretty weird ones too, always using at least 50% handspun yarns, and the rest is weird and wonderful commercial yarns from her life exceeding stash. Hats can also be commissioned.

She sells a few spinners/felters supplies. Dyed fleece, batts, little bags of silk, buttons, knitting needles, niddy-noddies etc.

Jude lives in Stockport where she does tuition sessions in basic spinning, dyeing and felting. She also does talks and demonstrations within a 15 mile radius of home and she has stalls at various events throughout the year, she always brings a spinning wheel to an event to demonstrate. Contact her at ajlbeckett@tesco.net.

Jude runs a knitting club and a spinning club in Stockport, just ask for the flyer. Her favourite fleece are Wensleydale, Gotland, Polworth ,BFL and Lincoln Longwool. She has been known to spin a natural coloured fleece but it has to be grey, black or brown.
