Forest Crafters

Hello from Forest Crafters.

We are Sue and Rob, a wife and husband team, based in Nottinghamshire who are enthusiastic handcrafters and are looking forward to coming to the Bakewell Wool Gathering for 2014. We produce wool and fibre related handcrafts as well as hand turned woodwork.

Our woolwork range includes hand spun yarn, created from hand washed, dyed and processed British fleece including Rare Breeds, as well as commercial fibre. The fibre is hand dyed in small batches. We offer dyed braids, curls and yarns for purchase as well as carded batts and knitted bag kits. This year will include sparkle and silk-laden punis.

Our woodwork range includes fibre related tools including: wooden turned nostepinnes, spindles and spindle holders, our popular spinning wheel gorfooks (gauge and orifice hooks), spindling kits, weaving stick kits, shawl pins and buttons and toggles. These are all individually designed and hand made by us. We use a mixture of reclaimed, British native and exotic woods. This year Rob has created a few new variations on Nostepinnes and keyrings.

We sell our products through craft fairs and online in our Etsy shop and we are happy to fulfil customised orders.

Sue is happy to provide spinning, dyeing and fibre preparation workshops. Rob is happy to keep himself busy in his workshop!
When we are out and about at events we always carry ‘Have a go’ spindles and weaving sticks, so that we can tempt people to ‘play’ and have fun.

Magical Mosaics

Run by Debbie Tomkies, this workshop will run on Sunday at 1.30pm.

Make a pair of wristlets or a mug-rug using simple slipstitch to create amazing colourwork designs.

The cost of the workshop is £15.00, which includes your entry ticket to Bakewell Wool Gathering. You can book online.

Willo Fibres

…will be bringing to Bakewell the following: tops, plant fibre, llama, camel, alpaca (plain & dyed) merino & silk, Jacob, BFL, Finnish, Icelandic and Shetland Humbug tops, some of which are hand dyed, also Hand made yarn bowls and drop spindles.

I’m also the UK Agent for the Hitchhiker & Roadbug spinning wheels.
