Directions and travel

Agricultural Way
DE45 1AH

Bakewell is on the A6, midway between Buxton to the north and Matlock to the south.

Public transport

The closest train station is in Matlock, about 8 miles away. You'll need to catch a connecting bus from there.

You can also catch a bus from Chesterfield train station, which has connections to several major cities.

For information on buses, please visit the Derbyshire Bus website. You may also find this map useful.

There are several car parks in Bakewell. All are Pay & Display. Derbyshire Dales council run most of them and the closest one is right outside the Agricultural Centre!

The cost for the day is over £5. They accept card payments but be prepared for this not to work.

We know that often the Pay & Display machines are broken or slow. We've spoken to the council about this plenty of times! You can use PaybyPhone to pay instead. That's usually cheaper too.

Details of car parks and directions to them can be found on Parkopedia and Peak District Online.

Accessible parking

There are several accessible parking spaces in the Agricultural Centre car park.

If you’re thinking of coming to visit for the full weekend or longer, there are plenty of places to stay in the local area. We recommend looking at the Visit Peak District website for more information.
